i began writing poetry as a therapeutic exercise
i was on the cusp of severe anxiety from allowing myself to be boxed in by others – keeping my emotions contained
writing initially began as a way to put into words the exact feeling i was in, in that moment (i never go back and edit or change my poetry – because i will never truly be in that headspace i was in when i wrote it)
as my anxiety worsened, often the only solace i could find was to bleed out my inner thoughts into prose; my life felt as if it was unlivable at times
but i worked through my anxiety, and happiness began to bloom once again in my heart
my Emotions poetry captures some of these moments, pre / during / post anxiety – as well as those times that a partner walks through a door – whether to leave or to enter
Emotions also concerns the deep love or connection i have with my family and friends
as i was able to bloom into my true self, shedding others expectations and the roots of my anxiety, i began to understand that i was ultimately driven to encourage people
and this is where Encouragement was born
i decided that if i were to share Emotions with you, i must also produce Encouragement to balance it – my hope is to illuminate the destination whilst holding your hand on the journey
while my Emotions work is past and present, my Encouragement work is all in the present, written in real time to inspire hope and serenity in your heart and soul
i hope that my work resonates with you, and helps in some way
